 | About:
Since my humble beginnings as a 15-year-old apprentice in London, England, in 1959, I have accomplished more than 90,000 haircuts (an astonishing number to me); owned and run two successful Toronto salons, including the groundbreaking Rainbow Room; and trained hundreds of apprentices and assistants who have gone on to successful careers. I have had numerous credits for film, TV, print, theatre and video, and represented L'Oreal Professional, Wella, Schwarzkopf and other companies at hairdressing conventions across Canada and the United States. In 1993, I won New York's Ar and Fashion Group International World Master of the Craft Award; and I have had the pleasure of raising $186,000 for break cancer research and receiving the 2005 Contessa Community Service Award. Having reached the top of the ladder in my chosen career, I am now putting an extension on it, with a series of lectures and presentations entitled "Are You Curious." When I retire, I plan to take up hairdressing as a hobby.
